ABU DHABI // Work on the Dh653 million Madinat Zayed to Al Marfa road project, part of the Abu Dhabi Plan to provide an effective transport system for community and economy, has started.
The construction of a two-lane dual carriageway will include lighting, an upper interchange, three under-crossings for U-turns and crossing of wildlife, and construction of four ducts and three utility bridges, the Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, said on Saturday.
The work is scheduled to finish in the first quarter of 2019.
Musanada said LED lighting will cut energy consumption on the project by 60 per cent.
The 50 kilometre motorway, one of many projects in the 2016-2021 strategic plan of the Department of Transport, will become the main road in the Western Region.
