Two men have been arrested for killing a salesman in a hit-and-run case in Sharjah.

The suspects were caught in Ajman in less than 12 hours after the accident, said police officials on Wednesday.

Both stopped at a store in Sharjah industrial area and bought two e-cigarettes worth Dh1,000 each.

“The salesman handed over the e-cigarettes to the men while they stayed in the car. Instead of paying him, they drove away,” said Brig Ibrahim Al Ajel, director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police.

“The salesman tried to stop them but fell in front of the vehicle and was run over.”

The men flew the accident scene after hitting the salesman, causing his death.

“After monitoring and investigation, the team was able to identify the vehicle plate number that caused the accident, but it was proven that it had fake numbers,” said Brig Al Ajel.

Both were arrested in Ajman with the help of the emirate's police officers.
