DUBAI // Transport bosses are looking into simplifying the recruitment process by adopting smart government applications.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) visited the Ministry of Labour to hear how key services, like issuing work permits to new staff, could be managed electronically.

“There are many services that could be done electronically, including the retrieval of the company’s bank guarantee, cancellation of expired work permits, work permit fee payments and many other services,” said Aisha Belharfia, director of the Labour Office in Dubai.

The move comes amid a widespread adoption by government departments of ‘smart government’ functions.
