SHARJAH // A 30-day campaign aimed at educating motorists about tyre safety has been launched.

“The campaign aims at educating motorists about vehicle safety in general and tyre safety in particular,” said Colonel Shawwaf Abdul Rahman, director of Traffic and Patrols Department of Sharjah Police.

Col Abdul Rahman called on motorists to carry out regular maintenance on their vehicle’s tyres and make sure they are in good condition to cope with the hot temperatures of summer.

“Tyres can explode during long distance driving with the hot temperatures. Motorists should carry out regular maintenance to avoid this kind of road accident,” he said.

Police distributed brochures in Arabic and English to motorists on the emirate’s roads on Sunday.
