DUBAI // Police in the emirate, along with their colleagues in Sharjah, have joined forces with Porsche Centre Dubai in a new road safety initiative that rewards good driving with cash.
As part of the bi-annual RoadStar contest, police in both emirates will patrol in Porsche Cayennes SUVs provided by the centre during the daily rush hour.
Instead of issuing fines, traffic officers will reward the safest drivers with instant cash of Dh1,000 along with a ‘safe driver’ certificate.
A total of Dh50,000 will be given away during the five-day campaign with at least 10 drivers awarded on a daily basis.
The campaign runs from October 19 to 21 in Dubai and October 22 and 23 in Sharjah.
