On-duty police officer killed in Sharjah crash

A police officer died in Sharjah after his patrol car crashed on Mleiha Road, the emirate’s police said on Thursday.

The officer was identified as First Assistant Rashid Ali Albahi.

The Sharjah Police General Command said the officer from the Traffic and Patrols Department was killed in a traffic accident when he was on duty on Thursday morning.

Tributes poured in for the officer.

“He was a best friend, may God be merciful to him,” said one friend on Sharjah Police’s Instagram post.

“May God be merciful and be with you, Bu Ali. You were a brother, friend and loving colleague,” said another man.
