DUBAI // The latest phase of a project for Dh69 million in improvements to the Seih Al Salam Road, between Dubai International Endurance City and the rest area at Al Qudra cycle track, is under way.

Works along a 12-kilometre stretch of road from the Bab Al Shams Hotel include three more rest areas at junctions, street lights and a stormwater drainage network.

The finished project will create a key traffic corridor starting from the cycling track to Dubai on either Al Ain Road or Al Qudra Road, which passes over Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road through to Jumeirah.

Mattar Al Tayer, director general of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, said: “Upgrading the Seih Al Salam Road project aims to enhance the safe and smooth flow of traffic. Metal rails will be erected to fend off casual U-turns, and ground markings will be repainted and existing trees protected.”

Al Qudra Road was widened to three lanes in either direction earlier this year, as part of a Dh110 million improvement project.
