DUBAI // Traffic on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road was brought to a halt on Tuesday afternoon following an accident in Sharjah.
The Road Transport Authority (RTA) said on Twitter that the motorway was closed for an hour from 2.30pm and, at the time, it urged drivers to use Emirates Road instead.
Dubai Police confirmed that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road towards Sharjah was closed due to a major crash and they, too warned drivers to take alternative routes.
Details of any casualties were not immediately available.
