ABU DHABI // Almost 100 illegal taxis have been seized in Al Wathba and nearby areas as part of a clampdown in the capital.
As part of a campaign by Abu Dhabi Municipality in cooperation with the Integrated Transport Centre and Abu Dhabi Police to limit passengers using unauthorised vehicles, 98 cars were impounded pending legal action against the owners.
The municipality urged passengers not to use private cars and to use only licensed taxis.
Unlicensed cabs are not affiliated to any of the licensed taxis companies. The municipality asked the community to only use cabs that carry certified taxi license plates.
