DUBAI // Four people have died and two injured in accidents on Dubai roads over the past two days.

In the most recent, a driver died when his car rammed into a lorry at about 2pm on Tuesday on Emirates Road, near the Jebel Ali Lahbab roundabout.

The other three died in two accidents on Monday. Col Jamal Al Bannai, acting director of Dubai Traffic Police, said the first happened at 8am when a lorry flipped over on the Jebel Ali Lahbab Road.

“The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene,” Col Al Bannai said.

The second accident was on the Abu Dhabi-bound lanes of Sheikh Zayed Road, near the Dubai Marina Metro Station, at about 9.30pm.

“A small vehicle crashed into a small crane after the latter’s driver slowed down to stop on the hard shoulder to tend to a damaged tyre,” Col Al Bannai said.

“The driver of the small car and his daughter were killed, while his wife and son sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to hospital.”

Col Al Bannai urged motorists to always abide by the traffic laws.

He also warned against sudden swerving, which is still one of the leading causes of traffic accidents.
