An Emirati man died in a car accident on the way to Salalah at Awifiyah area in Ibri province, Oman on Thursday.
Juma Al Nuaimi was traveling with his friend when a heavy wooden board fell from a truck going in the other direction of the road and smashed the front window of the car.
Royal Oman police received a call about the accident at 5:15pm, and immediately police patrols and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
Captain Mohammed Al Hashami, of Royal Oman Police, said: "It's an unfamiliar incident and we are still searching for the truck that caused the accident,"
"The driver survived the incident while the passenger suffered from severe injuries and was transferred to Ibri Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"All the trucks should have a protection cover to avoid such incidents and to protect his cargo from falling while on the road," he added
"The body of the deceased was handed to the family on Thursday night."
Investigations are still underway.
Condolences were paid on social media alongside a photo of the vehicle.

Juma Al Nuaimi will be laid to rest at Al Hili cemetery in Al Ain after Friday prayers in Zayed Bin Sultan Mosque.
