DUBAI// Motorists are being warned of a fire safety drill due to take place at Airport Tunnel on Friday.
The Crises Management Team at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is preparing for an emergency drill from 2am to 6am.
The tunnel will be cordoned off at midnight in the direction of Qusais and Sharjah.
Motorists heading in that direction have been advised to use Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Ittihad Road instead.
The drill will involve a scenario in which two vehicles – one carrying flammable materials – have crashed in the tunnel.
Eleven government and semi-governmental bodies will be involved in the drill, including Dubai Police, Directorate General of Civil Defence – Dubai, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Municipality, Emirates Airline, and Dubai Airports.
