A Lamborghini Aventador, Bentley Continental GT and a Mercedes G Wagen. These are not cars associated with your average police force. But then again, Dubai Police is not your average force. Where others drive humble Toyotas, Dubai Police employs a range of glamorous supercars.

Now the force has added another type of supercar. Clad in the force's white and green livery, the Peugeot all-electric vehicles will patrol Dubai Airports and help to keep all travellers heading through the terminals safer in an eco-friendly way.

The new cars were revealed on Dubai Police's Twitter and Facebook page on Thursday. It follows the introduction of all-electric BMWs into the force's fleet, while earlier this month fifty all-electric Teslas were added to Dubai Taxi Corporation’s limo range.

The Minister for Energy, Suhail Al Mazrouei, said electric cars should make up 10 per cent of all government vehicles. This is part of a goal to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15 per cent by 2021.
