SHARJAH // Six people died on the roads in Sharjah’s central region in the first three months of this year, a drop from 16 for the same period last year.
Col Ahmad bin Darwish, director of Sharjah Central Region Police, said extra police patrols at accident blackspots, including Mleiha and Al Dhaid roads, was partly responsible the decline in deaths.
“We have increased our messages to the public through social media platforms in addition to traditional awareness campaigns, which we noticed have yielded a positive impact,” Col bin Darwish said.
“We call on motorists to keep vigilant and stay away from distraction while driving, and abide by speed limits and regulations.”
