ABU DHABI // The chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Transport has voiced his support for The National’s Cycle to Work campaign.
“Let’s all put ourselves in touch with the beauty of our capital closer and more often by riding bicycles,” Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon said on Monday.
Alternative transport such as cycling means fewer cars on the roads and less emissions, while physically active citizens are “an asset to society”, Sheikh Sultan said.
“While we are still working at the DoT on making our roads more pedestrian and bicycle friendly, I call upon drivers to share the road and yield to cyclists,” said Sheikh Sultan.
“Finally, this is an invitation to all of us to wear proper cycling safety gear, ride our bicycles more often and pedal towards a healthier lifestyle.”
The National's #cycletoworkuae campaign, part of the paper's healthy living initiative, takes place on Tuesday.
