RAS AL KHAIMAH // One hundred motorcyclists from across the UAE braved 20 kilometres of steep, twisting roads to reach the top of Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.

The ride to the UAE’s highest peak was the penultimate leg of their cross-country, Emirates Bikes Festival ride.

The bikers tackled the snaking ascent and hairpin bends 1,829 metres up the Hajjar mountain range.

They dodged goat herds on the way, to be rewarded with sweeping views across the rocky terrain and cooler air, which typically averages 10°C less than mean UAE temperatures.

The group completed the 90-minute ride from Fujairah and stayed overnight at The Cove Rotana RAK before starting the ride back to Dubai the next morning.
