DUBAI // Fifteen people have died so far this year in traffic accidents on roads patrolled by officers from Qusais Police Station, one more than in all of 2015.
Brig Ahmed bin Ghulaita Al Mehairi, director of the police station, said that 14 people were killed in traffic incidents last year.
“In the first quarter of this year, we exceeded last year’s number of deaths,” he said. “It is very unfortunate for a person to lose his life over something so silly, such as a message or a phone call.”
Brig Al Mehairi said that most traffic incidents took place on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and in Al Muhaisnah 2.
In the first quarter of this year, Al Qusais Police Station recorded 14 incidents, in which 15 people were killed. Of the 14 incidents, eight were run-over incidents, three were car collisions, one was a case of crashing into an object, and two were incidents involving vehicles that flipped over.
