Lorry drivers in the Western Region have been warned to ensure their tyres are roadworthy.
The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate is increasing patrol checks for defective tyres.
Maj Suhail Al Mazroui, head of the Western Region Traffic Section, said the force had launched an awareness programme for drivers, including field lectures about the risks of worn tyres and the importance of checking their condition.
Police are also giving lorry drivers advice on purchasing tyres.
