A theatrical performance inspired by the rich history of the UAE will be the centrepiece of celebrations for the 48th National Day on December 2.

Tickets for the ‘Legacy of Our Ancestors’ show to be staged at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sport City Stadium go on sale at 12pm on Monday.

Inspired by local folklore, ‘Legacy of our Ancestors’ will take thousands of spectators on a historical exploration of the values on which the nation has been built.

Visitors are promised a dazzling show featuring ‘special effects’ of the moon through live performances, stunning digital art and awe-inspiring visual and sound effects.

The audience will be told stories of courage and pride, about people who are resilient and resourceful, honourable and devoted.

“The epic scale of this production, coupled with the rich tapestry of values derived from our most precious of stories, will ensure ‘Legacy of Our Ancestors’ reaches a theatrical level never experienced before in the UAE,” said Saeed Al Suwaidi, organising committee representative.

“The show will create a sense of pride, which will live for many years to come and serve as a fitting masterpiece for the official 48th UAE National Day Celebration.

“With more than 200 nationalities proudly calling the UAE home, our National Day remains a much-loved calendar date for Emiratis and expatriates.

As Abu Dhabi continues to attract a growing number of regional and international visitors, we hope ‘Legacy of Our Ancestors’ will shine a greater light on the stories of our past that continue to shape our future.”

Admission is Dh60 for a single ticket or Dh50 each when part of a group of four.

The limited number of tickets can be snapped up from or by calling 800 86823.
