The National's feature writer Asmaa Al Hameli has won an award for her coverage of last year's Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival.

Her reporting from Al Wathba was selected by the Camel Race Association, under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan, the Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the UAE.

The National was the only English-language newspaper to win the award, for excellent coverage.

The award was presented during a ceremony at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi by Abdullah Al Muhairi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Camel Racing at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

Ms Al Hameli is a graduate of Sheikh Zayed University. She joined The National in 2012 under the newspaper's journalism training scheme and has been a member of the feature writing team since 2014.
