DUBAI // A tenant sent emails to his landlord threatening to kill his son and tell his wife that he had been sleeping with other women, on Monday.
N N, 47, from Montenegro, denied charges of issuing threats but confessed to another of issuing insults.
He told the court that his landlord had threatened to kill his family and that is why he insulted him via email.
Prosecutors said that Y B, 38, from the Czech Republic, had rented his flat to the defendant in July last year but then decided to sell up.
“I asked him to leave so he asked me to pay him Dh10,000,” said Y B, who gave the tenant the money but claims the Montenegrin then refused to leave the flat.
Months later, on February 25 this year, the owner said he received emails from the defendant in which he told him that he would kill his family.
“He wrote that he would kill my son and tell my wife that I had been in many relations with prostitutes, and said that he will show me what he can do and asked me for Dh3,000 more,” said YB, adding further emails insulted him.
A verdict is expected on November 17.
