Syrian actress in Dubai court after accusing fellow celebrity of affair with her husband

Dima Bayaa stands accused of issuing insults against Nesreen Tafesh, for saying that she slept with her husband, famous actor Taim Hasan, and was the catalyst for the break-up of their marriage.

Dima Bayaa, 36, the Syrian star of TV blockbusters such as Sabaya, has appeared at Dubai Court of Misdemeanours on a charge of issuing insults.

DUBAI // The worlds of showbusiness and the law clashed in a Dubai courtroom on Wednesday, in the case of the TV star who accused another actress of sleeping with her husband and destroying her marriage.

The accusation led to Dima Bayaa, 36, the Syrian star of TV blockbusters such as Sabaya, appearing at Dubai Court of Misdemeanours on a charge of issuing insults.

The case was brought by another Syrian actress, Nesreen Tafesh, 32, who starred in Assarab and Banat Alayla – and also appeared in the first episode of Sabaya.

The man at the centre of the love triangle is Bayaa’s ex-husband, Taim Hasan, 38, Syrian star of TV epics such as Conflict on the Sand. The couple, who have two children, were divorced last year after 10 years of marriage.

In comments published online, Bayaa said Tafesh was “the head of the snake” and accused her of being responsible for the break-up of her marriage.

Bayaa said she had taken Tafesh into their marital home as a friend, but Tafesh had taken advantage of their friendship by having a sexual relationship with her husband.

The actress denied a charge of issuing insults. Tafesh was not in court on Wednesday, and the case was adjourned until January 25.

But there was further drama in the courtroom as Bayaa stood before the panel of judges, when police noticed a man raising his phone in a suspicious manner and suspected he might be recording the hearing.

He was taken away but no recordings were found on his phone.
