Success for Seemar

DUBAI // A dominating ride from English champion Ryan Moore in the Jebel Ali Racecourse feature yesterday is likely to see Satish Seemar's unbeaten Ibn al Nafis installed as a Carnival contender for the remainder of the season. And the Seemar-Moore combination struck again when tricky customer, Colourful Score, bolted home in the six furlong Emirates NBD Handicap. Seemar was not present to see his winners, but he will have been satisfied with the recent form of his stable after Escape Route also won at Meydan Racecourse on Thursday.

The Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed-owned Ibn al Nafis, unbeaten in three starts, triumphed over another Seemar charge, Princess Haya bint al Hussein's Rochefort in the Dh100,000 Shadwell Handicap over 1m1f yesterday. Dhruba Selvaratnam's My Verse was third under William Buick. The winner will head to the Meydan Racecourse. "He's a very nice horse," said Moore, standing in for Seemar's regular rider, Richard Mullen who was competing in Saudi Arabia. "He's better than the average horse you get running at Jebel Ali. He had a good look round towards the finish but I got stuck into him and he picked up very well."

Purebred Arabian trainer, Gillian Duffield, followed up her excellent form at Abu Dhabi when the Tadhg O'Shea-ridden AS Mushrif had more left in the tank at the finish of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid UAE Breeders' Cup than Musabah al Muhairi's Bareq under Wayne Smith. Duffield has now saddled an impressive 14 Arabian winners and is trailing Saifaldin Deeb on the Arabian championship table by one. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashi also enjoyed success at Jebel Ali.
