Forbes Middle East magazine has named Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak its Personality of the Year 2014: Arab World Women Leader.
Sheikha Fatima is chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, supreme president of the Family Development Foundation, and head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
She was honoured as a model for generous giving and sense of responsibility, and for her pioneering cultural and development role in the enhancement of the role of women in the UAE, the Arab World and internationally.
The announcement was made at a ceremony under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development. Dr Maitha Al Shamsi, Minister of State, received the award on behalf of Sheikha Fatima, widow of the founding President.
