DUBAI // Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed, son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, was laid to rest on Saturday evening in Umm Hurair Cemetery.
He was buried after a grand funeral procession in Al Fahidi area in Bur Dubai following his death on Saturday morning due to a heart attack. He was 33 years old.
Funeral prayers for Sheikh Rashid were held at Zabeel mosque, and attended by Sheikh Mohammed, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed, Ruler of Fujairah, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid, Ruler of Ajman, who performed the two prayers along with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and other officials and mourners.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, Minister of Finance and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed met mourners during the funeral.
His body was carried by his brothers Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Maktoum. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid will accept condolences on Sunday and Monday at Zabeel Palace from 10am to Dhuhr prayers (12:20pm) and after Asr prayers (4pm) to Maghrib prayers (6:30pm).
