Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has ordered the allocation of Dh20 million from the amount collected through the Compassion (Tarahamu) campaign, to provide winter relief aid to those affected by the severe winter in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The ERC delegation, headed by Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, secretary general of the ERC, is heading to Erbil to implement the directives of Sheikh Hamdan to provide relief aid, especially to those at the mountainous area around the Turkish-Iranian border, hit hard by the snowstorm sweeping the Levant, state news agency Wam reported.
