A cookie-selling contest organized by Sharjah Girl Guides and sponsored by Sharjah Ladies Club raised Dh9,500 to support children suffering from chronic illnesses.
A team of chefs from the traditional French bakery Vendome Paris taught the girls from nine participating schools how to bake cookies and sell them during their break-times at school as part of the Cookie for a Cause campaign.
The two-week campaign was held from 9 to 22 November 2014 and took off at SGG’s premises in Al Badea, Sharjah.
All schools received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition for their support and efforts, while the Guides earned badges, as cookie selling is a tradition in guiding associations worldwide.
“We launched ‘Cookie for a Cause’ to motivate young girls to participate in charity initiatives, boost their team spirit and encourage them to become positive role models within their communities. They also got the opportunity to develop basic sales skills,” said Shaikha Al Shamsi, Assistant Manager at Sharjah Girl Guides.
