Dragica Nikolic, the Serbian first lady and chair of Foundation Dragica Nikolic, lauded the UAE for providing aid to the victims of floods that had swept through the Balkan Peninsula earlier this year.

She said the UAE’s support was instrumental in alleviating their suffering, helping improve living conditions and restore normality to their lives in the wake of the disaster. She highlighted the international humanitarian role being played by the UAE’s Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) in improving the humanitarian situation in disaster-hit countries.

Mrs Nikolic made her remarks on Wednesday during her visit to the ERC’s head office where she had talks with officials of the UAE’s relief agency on avenues of co-operation on humanitarian efforts.

During her meeting with Chairman of the Board of the ERC, Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouie, Secretary-General of the ERC, Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, and Mohammed Yousef Al Fahim, Deputy Secretary-General of the ERC for Support Services, she expressed the Serbian humanitarian agency’s desire to forge a strong partnership with the ERC and tap into the Emirati agency’s long experience in humanitarian work.

Mr Al Falahi emphasised that the ERC will spare no effort to consolidate the Serbian foundation’s capabilities in the service of humanitarian interests.
