DUBAI // A salesman has been found not guilty of kidnapping a woman at knifepoint and threatening to kill her if she did not agree to marry him.

Dubai Criminal Court acquitted the 34-year-old Sudanese man, who had denied charges of kidnap and issuing death threats when he appeared in court last August.

The Algerian woman, 30, reported him to police on December 15, 2014 and said they had met about four months before the incident through a mutual friend.

The court acquitted him of all charges on Sunday morning, though no reason for the decision was given.
