The UAE has sent five planes with hundreds of tonnes of essential food supplies to Sudan to help those in need during Ramadan.
The aid will help thousands of families in the states of Khartoum, South Kordofan, Kassala, Blue Nile, River Nile, Al Jazirah and Northern.
Sheikha Fatima, the Mother of the Nation, ordered basic supplies and Ramadan essentials to be sent to families most affected by the pandemic.
Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent, lauded the efforts of Sheikha Fatima and commended her role in championing humanitarian work regionally and internationally.
He said the ERC will co-ordinate with the UAE embassy in Khartoum and local partners in Sudan to deliver the aid.
Hamad Mohamed Hamad Al Junaibi, the UAE's Ambassador to Sudan, said that the initiatives of Sheikha Fatima have helped vulnerable people in Sudan and provided for their basic needs.
He said Sheikha Fatima's noble initiative is being implemented for the third consecutive year, as part of a series of Emirati initiatives in Sudan.
