Residents in Ras Al Khaimah have complained about a 40 per cent increase in their water and electricity bills for last month.
They said the monthly billed amount did not correspond with their usual amount of usage, given that most families were away on holiday over the summer, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.
The Federal Electricity and Water Authority said the utility bill increases were the result of the lack of a “rationing culture”, adding that it had nothing to do with its meter readings.
