RAS AL KHAIMAH // Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested an Emirati man for a scheme involving victims selling items such as expensive cameras online.

RAK Police had received reports from victims of the scheme, who had advertised cameras they were selling for Dh15,000 or more, said Maj Ahmed Al Shamsi, director of CID.

The suspect is accused of calling the sellers and expressing his wish to buy advertised items, then agreeing to meet them and claiming he had transferred the payment to their bank accounts.

After receiving the cameras he would then sell them online without having paid the original sellers, police said.

Maj Al Shamsi urged people to be careful when dealing with strangers, particularly online, and to verify their identities and make sure they receive payments for items they sell.
