RAK issues ultimatum for capsized floating restaurant

The owner of a floating restaurant owner has received a final warning to fix, dismantle or move the capsized boat from the creek.

Ras Al Khaimah// The owner of a floating restaurant owner has received a final warning to fix, dismantle or move the capsized boat from the creek.

The boat, which was located near the Culture and Community Development Ministry building, has been capsized since September this year.

RAK Municipality has now issued a 30-day notice to fix or move the boat to avoid any environmental dangers.

The owner and the staff were banned from boarding the floating restaurant until it was fixed.

If the boat owner did not respond, the municipality said it will take appropriate action.

Ahmed Al Hammadi, director of Public Works Department, said: “The department can’t move the floating restaurant unless we get an official letter from the Municipality. The letter also needs to specify the location where the boat needs to be moved to.”
