Ras Al Khaimah driving licences will by next week have to be renewed through the Ministry of Interior's website.
The RAK Police's Licensing Department said the move, which will come into effect on June 24, will make the renewal process easier.
They have also linked up with five centres that can now provide sight tests so there is no need to visit the ministry. Those five are Jaber Optical, Ras Al Khaimah Hospital, International Specialised Centre, Samir Optics Centre and Belhasa Drivers.
Elderly and disabled people are exempt from the new rule.
The initiative was launched to save time and effort and improve customer service.
A number of brochures in will be distributed in Arabic, English and Urdu explaining the new renewal procedure.
