DUBAI// A Pakistani man is accused of molesting a seven-year-old girl while giving her private Quran lessons at her family’s home in Al Qusais.
Prosecutors charged the 27-year-old with sexual assault, which he denied at the Dubai Criminal Court on Tuesday morning.
Records show that the defendant was hired by the girl’s family two years ago to teach her the Quran. He would spend around 25 minutes with the girl each day, except weekends.
On March 1 last year, the girl allegedly told her mother that her tutor had been molesting her.
“She told me that he does bad things with her and when I asked her like what, she said he takes off his trousers and forces her to touch him,” said the child’s 26-year-old mother who informed police.
Officers arrested the defendant and during questioning he allegedly confessed to molesting the girl.
The child told prosecutors that she was scared to tell anyone but then decided to tell her mother.
A verdict will be issued on May 15.
