Public and private sector holidays for Eid Al Fitr announced

The Eid Al Fitr holidays for ministries and other federal government institutions will last for three days, private sector workers get two days.

The Eid Al Fitr holidays for ministries and other federal government institutions will begin on Friday, the state news agency Wam reported, based on Saturday being the first of Shawwal as widely expected.

If that is the case, work for the public sector will resume on Tuesday, August 21, the fourth of Shawwal, according to a circular issued by Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Meanwhile, Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash announced Saturday, August 18, and Sunday, August 19, as Eid Al Fitr holidays for the private sector, again based on Saturday being the first of Shawwal.

If Eid comes on Sunday then the holiday time moves forward a day.
