DUBAI// The mother of an 8-month-old boy confessed to judges at the Dubai Criminal Court that her son was born illegally and as the result of her working as a prostitute.
Indonesian ST, 36, was arrested on June 7 this year, five years after absconding from her Emirati sponsors.
“I arrived in 2010 and worked for them for nearly nine months, they used to beat me up and pay me only Dh700, which wasnt enough, so I ran away. I worked for different families for a short while before I shared accommodation with a number of women then worked in prostitution,” said the woman.
The court was told that ST was working as prostitute in a massage centre in Karama when she got pregnant by one of her customers. She gave birth with the help of a number of women. Her son, who does not have any official documents, is living with his mother at the Dubai central jail.
ST claimed she was impregnated by an Indian customer who left the country when she told him.
She confessed to a charge of working in prostitution and another of having a child outside of wedlock.
She was sentenced to three months in jail to be followed by deportation. The child will not remain in jail with its mother.
