DUBAI // A prisoner at Naif Police station raped his cell mate, a court heard yesterday.
Emirati H A, 28, harrassed the man and asked him for sex, then raped him when he was rebuffed, prosecutors said.
“He started chatting with me and offered me tea and cigarettes then stuck his body close to mine and asked me to have sex with him. I refused, of course,” the cellmate said.
He said the accused threatened to harm him, warning him that he had been involved in murder and kidnap.
“He said he was afraid of nobody and no punishment,” the cellmate said. “I’m straight and married, I have a five-year-old child, I wouldn’t let him do that.”
The prisoner then closed the curtains of the cell and raped him. The cellmate told his wife about the attack, on December 18 last year, when she visited him the next day.
The prisoner denied a charge of rape at the Criminal Court and asked for time to be able to appoint a lawyer. The case was adjourned to December 18.
