RAS AL KHAIMAH // Poor families received food packets distributed by the Dar Al Ber Society’s RAK branch this month.
The monthly packets include food such as rice, macaroni and chicken and are donated in collaboration with RAK public prosecution, RAK Customs, Al Holi Contracting and Construction Company and other philanthropists, according to Wam the state news agency.
Ali Abdullah Al Shehi, manager of the Dar Al Ber Society, RAK Branch, said other projects included building mosques, digging water wells, and sponsoring orphans.
Food packets are also distributed overseas to needy families in Palestine, Syria, Burma, Egypt, Lebanon, Guinea, Arteria, Burundi, Somalia, Albania, and Azerbaijan, Mr Al Shehi said. “Upto 66 low-income families regularly benefit from the foodstuff packet project worth Dh23,000,” he said.
The food distribution scheme to reach low-income families began two years ago.
