DUBAI // Heroin worth Dh1.25 million has been seized in Al Quoz.

Anti-drugs officers raided a warehouse after a tip-off and caught a man loading boxes containing the heroin on to a lorry. A second man was arrested later in Al Rafaa.

The police found 17.5 kilograms of heroin, some stashed in hidden compartments inside four wooden boxes and the rest hidden on 12 photo frames, where small quantities of the drug had been fashioned into heart-shaped decorations.

Drugs department director Maj Gen Abduljalil Mahdi Al Assmawi said the two men, both 24, had confessed to smuggling the heroin into the UAE from Pakistan.
