Perfect Narang sets record as he shoots for gold again

NEW DELHI // Gagan Narang won his second gold medal of the Commonwealth Games today, and maintained India's position as the country to beat on the range.

Narang scored a perfect 600 in qualifying for the men's 10-metre air rifle singles, and then set a Commonwealth Games record with 103.6 points in the final for a combined 703.6.

Yesterday, Narang and teammate Abhinav Bindra won gold in the pairs 10-metre air rifle. The Beijing Olympics champion Bindra had to settled for silver in the singles with 698 points, while James Huckle of England took bronze with 693.5 points.

"Gagan was on fire today, but I am happy," Bindra said. "I am looking forward to the next event now." Narang has now won six Commonwealth Games gold medals in his career.
