A car fell into Dubai Creek after its owner failed to use the hand brake when parking, police said.

The Department of Maritime Rescue of the General Department of Transport and Rescue were called to the scene after police were alerted to the incident.
"We acted with speed fearing that there might be people inside the car, our patrols were there in two minutes," said Maj Ali Al Naqbi, head of marine.

Divers found the car after searching the bottom of the creek. It was recovered using a police crane. "The first thing they checked was if any passengers were inside, then the car was taken out of water and placed on the pavement," Maj Al Naqbi said.
He urged drivers to always use manual brakes when parking their vehicles.
"They should take all precautions and make sure of ground's stability especially if they parked near water or slopes," Maj Al Naqbi said.
