ABU DHABI // The UAE Journalists Association is mourning the death of Emirati journalist Musabeh Obaid Al Dhahiri. State news agency Wam reported he was 120 years old when he died.
Al Dhahiri, who was laid to rest on Saturday in Al Ain, was one of the first journalists in the UAE and founded the Al Nakhi newspaper in 1934. He learned writing, reading and maths from the courts of Sheikhs and scholars.
His newspaper covered a wide variety of news, such as births, deaths, weddings and divorces in the city of Al Ain. Al Dhahihri also used to cover the arrival of commercial convoys from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and other places.
