One killed in three-car crash on Dubai Bypass Road

Road safety: One person was killed and three were injured when three cars on Dubai Bypass Road collided on Monday evening, police say.

The accident occured at around 7pm.

The cause of the crash is not clear, but it resulted in the death of one person who was driving a sedan. A passenger in that vehicle was also seriously injured in the crash.

The driver of the second car, a 4x4, also suffered serious injuries. The driver of the third car suffered minor injuries.

All of those involved in the crash were Emiratis. Police did not provide any further information on their identity.

The accident brings the total killed in traffic accidents on rain-soaked Monday to four.

In the afternoon, two men from Pakistan and one from Bangladesh where sitting in a stationary vehicle on the hard shoulder of Emirates Road when their car was struck by a 4x4 that had veered off the road.

All three died, while the 22-year-old driver of the 4x4 did not suffer any major injuries.

Police say the driver was speeding at the time of the crash.
