DUBAI // People are being encouraged to join the Dubai Astronomy Group for a comet-sighting session on Friday night.
The event takes place from 7pm in Mushrif Park, on the site of a new astronomy centre that is to be built, the Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre.
Dubai Astronomy Group is holding the observation for the passing of comet Lovejoy.
Hasan Al Hariri, chief executive of the astronomy group, said: “This is one of those occasions that is a once-in-a-lifetime event.
“It won’t be due back in our solar system for a couple of thousand years, so now is a wonderful opportunity to see it.”
