ABU DHABI // The number of victims of human trafficking being cared for at Ewa’a Shelters across the country has decreased from 71 cases in 2010 to 17 last year.

The figures were revealed on Wednesday in Ras Al Khaimah where the women and children’s care organisation signed a deal with the public prosecution service to increase awareness of human trafficking.

Hassan Mohaimed, RAK attorney general, told Al Ittihad, the sister newspaper of The National, that the agreement showed intent for various organisations to join forces against the crimes.

Sara Ibrahim, director general of Ewa’a, said the agreement would help protect and rehabilitate human trafficking victims.
