It's all change at Jumeirah Lakes Towers metro station - which now has a brand new name.

The Dubai metro stop - one of 29 stations in the emirate spanning more than 50 kilometres - will now be known as DMCC.

The name represents Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, the free zone which is home to more than 15,000 companies.

It is the latest in a long list of stations to be named after brands or companies rather than their locations, such as Nakheel, Sharaf DG and First Abu Dhabi Bank.

The Roads and Transport Authority has raised millions of dirhams through selling naming rights of stations serving the city.

Signs that still refer to JLT metro station will be replaced in the coming few weeks.

Dubai's DMCC, the biggest free zone in the world, is the developer of the JLT neighbourhood.
