DUBAI // A man who molested a woman near Dubai Fountain asked her father to beat him up instead of turning him in to the police, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday.

Egyptian N A, 18, was with her family at the fountain on the night of October 24 last year when she said she felt a hand on her thigh.

She turned her head to see Indian M S, 54, standing behind her with his hand on her thigh but she said she thought it happened by mistake, so she thought nothing of it.

“But seconds later he did it again, so I screamed at him and he tried to escape but I chased and caught him from his shirt while my father was right behind me,” the teenager said.

“He started asking my father to beat him up instead of handing him to police.”

The father called security and police.

The Indian denied touching N A intentionally during prosecution investigations but he was not present in court to enter a plea.

The next hearing will be on April 9, to summon the defendant.
