DUBAI // A 36-year-old mechanic will spend three months in jail for attacking his room-mate with a metal bar because he unearthed a tree in front of their room.
The 39-year-old Indian who removed the small tree told prosecutors that on June 16 last year he returned from work after Al Asr prayers and found the tree planted near the room and decided to pull it out.
“At that moment my room-mate arrived and struck me on the palm on my left hand with a metal bar,” said the man, who called police as his hand was badly injured.
Records show he was left with a 2.5 per cent permanent disability after he lost full mobility in one of his fingers due to the injury.
The defendant confessed in court last month but said he hit his room-mate with his hand, not a metal bar.
