DUBAI // A man who kidnapped an Emirati student, stripped him naked and tried to rape him has been sentenced to three years in jail.
On April 24 last year the victim, 19, met his attacker, also Emirati, and other men who remain at large, in Abu Hail.
“I met him near a gaming centre and we chatted then his friends arrived and suggested we take a short drive,” said the student, who was taken to a deserted area in Al Warqaa and assaulted by the men.
The victim said the Emirati, 25, told him they wanted to take turns raping him before ripping off his clothes then taking pictures of him naked, after which they let him go.
“I was driven home by a mutual friend who asked me not to call police but when I got home, my father saw the bruises and blood on my face and he insisted on questioning me and the friend separately,” the victim said.
The student’s father said his son was in bad shape when he came home.
When the attacker was arrested, police found pictures of the victim on his phone. He unsuccessfully denied charges of kidnapping, attempted rape, sex assault, physical assault and theft.
